  • Brian Darrow, DVM

    Brian is a mixed animal veterinarian of the Anamosa Veterinary Clinic. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1983 and has practiced in Anamosa since 1984. He and his wife Jill have three children, Alissa, Ethan and Ashton as well as two dogs, Biscuit and Belle. In his spare time, he likes to travel, hike and read. He is also highly involved in a Rabies prevention program in Africa called Sharon Live On.

  • MacKenzie Paulson, DVM

    Dr. MacKenzie Paulson is a mixed animal veterinarian and practice owner from Mount Vernon. She graduated from Iowa State in 2011 and started working at Anamosa Veterinary Clinic in June 2011. Her husband, Dustin Paulson, is a seed salesman for Welter Seed & Honey Company in Onslow. The two live in Anamosa with a rescue boxer, Colby, and two shelter cats named Bullet & Winchester.  She stays busy in her down time taking care of their two kids - Bentley & Hayley, as well as cheering on the ISU Cyclones and St. Louis Cardinals.

    Rik Smith, DVM

    Rik is a mixed animal veterinarian originally from Laurel, Nebraska.  He went to undergrad at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated from vet school at Iowa Sate in 2009. Rik joined Anamosa Veterinary Clinic in June 2012.  He lives in Mt. Vernon with his wife Jamie, a daughter, Eleanor, and their two dogs, Millie and Maisie.  In his free time, Rik enjoys reading, sports, and outdoor activities like hiking, camping, hunting, and fishing.

  • Craig Schnoor, DVM

    Craig is a small animal veterinarian originally from Maquoketa.  He went to vet school at Iowa State University and graduated in 2000.  Craig has been with the  Anamosa Vet Clinic since 2015. Craig lives in Maquoketa with his wife and 2 kids.  He currently owns and operates a cattle farm. In his free time he enjoys outdoor activities and traveling with his family.

  • Kayla Mysak, DVM

    Kayla is a mixed animal veterinarian originally from Central City. She graduated from Iowa State in 2016 and started working at Anamosa Veterinary Clinic in June 2016. Kayla lives near Morley with her husband Jake, dog Jade and two cats Duke and Jewel. In her free time she enjoys reading, horseback riding, hunting, fishing and working with cattle.

  • Ryan Bousselot, DVM

    Ryan is a mixed animal veterinarian originally from DeWitt, Iowa.  He received his Bachelor of Animal Science degree in 2004 and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2008 from Iowa State University.  Ryan has practiced mixed animal medicine in Anamosa, IA and also several years as a small animal veterinarian in Appleton, WI.  He lives in Anamosa with his wife, Margaret; two sons, Owen and Liam; a blue tick coonhound mix named Charlie, a 3-legged black cat named Finn, and a goat named Flower.  In his spare time Ryan enjoys spending time with family, watching movies and sports, traveling, and outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, camping, and fishing.

    Tessa is a mixed animal veterinarian from Wahoo, Nebraska. She received here B.S. in Animal Science at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2014 and her D.V.M. from Iowa State University in 2018. Tessa joined the Anamosa Vet Clinic team in July of 2018. She likes to take semi-long walks and do fun things.

  • Deanna

    Deanna is the Business Practice Manager at the Anamosa Vet Clinic and has been working at the clinic since 2005. She and her husband David have two rescue dogs Jazzie Jo and Weeko Marie who demand their full attention! Deanna volunteers for the State of Iowa in the Long Term Ombudsman Program. In her spare time she enjoys reading, spending time with friends, traveling and watching sports. She is a huge Hawkeye fan!!!!!

    Amanda has been a technician with Anamosa Vet Clinic since 2008. She attended Kirkwood Community College and graduated with her AAS degree in Veterinary Technology in 2001. She enjoys spending time with her husband Quintin and children Audrey and Wyatt, as well as her three dogs Monte, Moose and Toby, and several horses.

    Martika is a Registered Veterinary Technician. She graduated from Kirkwood Community College with an AAS degree in May of 2014 and has been a member of our team since then. She and her husband live in Marion and have an adorable Maltese named Kasper and a mixed breed named Dexter.  In her free time, Martika enjoys traveling, being outdoors, and spending time with family.

    Courtney has been with the Anamosa Vet Clinic since 2007. She graduated from the Kirkwood Horse Science Technology and Agribusiness program in 2005. Courtney enjoys training and showing her horses as well as spending time with her son, Ryan.

    Jodi

    Jodi has been with the Anamosa Vet Clinic team since February 2011. Jodi is originally from Wisconsin and moved to Iowa in April 2010. She lives in Anamosa with her husband Wally and their four children Carter, Sydney, Hayden, and Cooper. She has 4 dogs, Libby, Pickles, Homer, Delilah and 4 cats, Herky, Whisker, Cookie, and Bucky.

                                                   

  • Ashton

    Ashton is a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Animal Science focusing on companion animal management. After graduation she completed a program at the National K9 Learning Center in Columbus, Ohio to become a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. She works with owners and their dogs in private lessons to strengthen their relationship through basic obedience. She has a husband Erik and three dogs, JT (Jack Trice), Frisco and Bear. She is a huge Iowa State fan!

    Lisa has been with Anamosa Vet Clinic since August 2011. She has called Anamosa home since 1980. She has a husband, Dennis, and two sons, Jeff and Curtis. They also have a family dog named Ginger. In Lisa's spare time, she enjoys walking in the park, attending broadway theatre plays and spending time with her sisters.

    Sally

    Sally joined the Anamosa Vet Clinic team in June 2013 as a receptionist. She has a cat named Ash, and when she is not at work she enjoys hiking, camping and spending time with family.
  • Alycia

    Alycia started at the Anamosa Vet Clinic in 2014. She recently moved back to Iowa after experiencing the California lifestyle. While in California, she volunteered her time as a foster home transport for the San Bernardino pet shelter. She is currently attending Scott Community College working on her business degree. In her spare time she loves to read, dance, play sports, hang with friends, cuddle with Dalpal, and ride her horses.

    Kandis Bixler has been with us since 2009. Kandis graduated from Anamosa High school in 2009. Kandis is one of our Veterinarian Technician here at the Anamosa Veterinary Clinic. Kandis is married to Andrew Bixler and has three  little boys Jake, Tucker, and Luke. Kandis and her family moved to San Diego in 2013 to join her husband whom at the time was station there while being in the military. Kandis and her family lived there for about 2 years. Then they moved back in February 2015 so Kandis could join our crew again. Kandis loves what she does and looks forward every day to help take care of clients pets.

    Rachel

    Rachel started working at the Anamosa Vet Clinic in January of 2015.  She graduated from Kirkwood Community College as a Veterinary Assistant.  She has a rabbit and a guinea pig.  She likes to go camping and four wheeling in her free time.

     Nicole has been with the Anamosa Vet Clinic since 1999. She graduated from the Kirkwood Assistant program in 2002. She lives in Cascade with her daughters Kiley and Khloe. Nicole has always had love and passion for helping animals.

    Angie has been with the Anamosa Vet Clinic since May 2015.  She lives on a farm with her husband and youngest son.  She also has an older son and daughter.  Angie has 3 dogs and 2 horses.  When she is not working she loves to ride her horses and work in her flower bed.

    Kristen has been with the Anamosa Vet Clinic since August 2015.  She is from Mount Vernon and lives with her husband Eric and their four girls, Ashlynn, Ellah, Elizabeth, and Everlee. They also have three kitty cats that they absolutely adore and one feisty german shepherd named Gretchen. In her free time she enjoys horse back riding, camping, crafts and mostly time spent with her family. She graduated from Prairie High School in 2006 and has been working with animals for the past 5 years.

    Jacob

    Jacob was hired as a kennel assistant in 2014. He is a junior at Springville High School and plays football, basketball and baseball. He is also involved in FFA and shows his own livestock in 4H.
  • Kadie

    Kadie joined the Anamosa Vet Clinic in January 2016.  She graduated from Cascade High School in May of 2015.  In her free time she enjoys hunting, fishing, and riding horses. Kadie has a 1 year old pot bellied pig named "Maynard Wayne." As seen in the picture, the two of them are inseparable and are usually either outside playing together or snuggling.  Maynard enjoys coming to the clinic to see all of his friends. Kadie's future plan include attending Kirkwood Community College Vet Tech program to further her career in the veterinary field.

    Nicole started working at the Anamosa Vet Clinic in April of 2017. Graduated   from Midland High School is 2013. Nicole has been a long time animal lover, working with them her whole life. Recently married to Cole Ehresman. They have two dogs, Beau and Dixie. Nicole loves to hunt and spend time farming with her husband.

    Kristin Guenther graduated from Midland in 2016 then attended Kirkwood Community College and graduated from the Veterinary Assistant program in 2017. Kristin started working at the clinic in August 2017 after her summer internship. She was apart of 4H and FFA, she enjoyed showing her cattle, cats and hedgehog at the fair.

    Emilee started at the Anamosa Vet Clinic in July of 2017. She graduated from Washington High School in 2014, and started her life as a teacher at a daycare, though found it wasn’t the career she wanted to spend the rest of her life in. She lives in Cedar Rapids with her boyfriend Seth, their daughter Georgie, as well as their three cats, Casran, Netta, and Doyle, and their dog, Prudence. In her free time, Emilee enjoys doing crafts, making videos, playing video games, and watching General Hospital and her other favorite YouTube shows. This is her first job working with animals, and she’s never been happier!

    Jill has been with the Anamosa Vet clinic since July of 2018.  She has 2 kids, Nicole and Eris and lives with her husband Dennis.  She has a family dog named Giffen and 2 cats Louis and Lily.  She loves spending time with her grandkids.

    Biscuit is the clinic dog, she LOVES to ride in the truck and looks forward to going to work every day!
  • RIP Dallas

    Dallas was adopted from the Cedar Valley Humane Society by Alycia in April. He is currently a strong fighter battling cancer with a happy smile and wagging tail.  He loves ice cream, car rides, steak, and running with other dogs.  You can find him being a shadow of Alycia or napping in a cat bed up front.  He loves attention so be sure to give him a warm hello!

    Clubby is our very unique clinic cat, she is a polydactyl with only 3 legs, but don't let that fool you, she is feisty!

    Tippy is one of the clinic cats. He is a great hunter and loves to snuggle with his best girl, Snowball.
